Mobile Location Protocol is specified by Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) for use as a standard protocol for location based services. It is an application-level protocol for obtaining the position of mobile Stations (mobile phones , wireless personnel, digital assistants ans so on) independent of underlying network technology. It is based on XML and defined to be transported in Hypertext Transport Protocol (HTTP) or Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP). Only mapping to HTTP is defined in present days.
